The Conservation Planning Institute was founded in 2002. We are a U.S. 501(c)3
tax exempt organization. We are members of the IUCN.
Board of Directors
Our Board members have had an influence on the science of conservation
planning and conservation policy at local, national, and international levels.
This influence has led to the conservation of millions of hectares of land across
many regions of the earth.
CPI Board Members and staff have conservation planning experience in
many regions including:
Lombardy Region of Italy (Massa)
New South Wales, Australia, the Cape Floristic Region of South Africa, forests of
the Upper Yangtze River basin of China, several ecoregions in Turkey, and the
Amazon floodplain in Brazil (Pressey)
Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (Wuerthner and Vance-Borland)
Oregon Coastal Province (Willer)
Klamath-Siskiyou Mountains Province of Oregon and California, the Central and
North Coast of British Columbia, and the Great Sand Hills of Saskatchewan,
Canada (Vance-Borland)
As of 2007, our Board of Directors has a cumulative total of 137 years of
professional experience, published 229 refereed scientific papers or book
chapters, written or edited 49 books. Our Board President, Bob Pressey, has
received several major awards, including:
